About CIMAV

Centro de Investigación en Materiales Avanzados, S.C. (CIMAV) is a research center for advanced engineering materials located in the City of Chihuahua, in the northern region of Mexico. CIMAV is a member of the CONACYT system of public research centers in Mexico. (CONACYT is Mexico's - National Council of Science and Technology). The research center was founded October 1994 and was created by an agreement between the federal government of Mexico through CONACYT, the Chihuahua State Government and in collaboration with the private industrial sector through CANACINTRA Chihuahua.
This collaboration between public and private sectors has created synergies in regional economic development and the acquisition of world class research facilities and infrastructure for researchers.

Our capabilities at CIMAV include a wide variety of scientific research disciplines such as materials synthesis and processing techniques, materials characterization and analytical testing facilities. CIMAV's highly skilled research staff includes scientists with various backgrounds coming from different materials and environmental sciences disciplines, supported by highly specialized technicians and dedicated administrative personnel. At CIMAV we have 11 research focus areas and two academic institutional multidisciplinary programs.

Our mission is to promote regional and national sustainable development by conducting basic fundamental research, technological development and graduate education in the areas of Advanced Engineering Materials and Environmental Sciences and Technologies.
